The exhibition "Still Blue" by Ertuğrul Güngör and Faruk Ertekin at Atelier Marvy centers on blue, the color of both tranquility and inner turbulence, bringing together emotional intensity and lightness, our complex mental worlds and inner peace. The healing, calming, and metaphorical feeling and emotion of blue are also nourished by its connection to the sea. The stormy state behind a sheet-like calmness becomes a reflection of the artists. Moving beyond the traditional cobalt blue frequently encountered in ceramic arts, it reflects a state of mind. The "still" in Still Blue, while meaning "stillness" or "calmness" in English, also implies a state of inaction and waiting. It conveys the artists' choice to pause in an era where everything is bright, shiny, and fast, turning inward and depicting the spiritual challenges they face. "Still Blue" opens up a space that questions the obligation to constantly feel cheerful, productive, or "good" in order to stay alive and exist. It reminds us of the resistance to this obligation and the political power of fragility and silence.
