About Cristina Bowerman

Addicted to traveling and creating extraordinary tastes Bowerman, has also a very appealing story...

Cristina was born in Puglia, southern part of Italy and while growing up she had the chance to visit different countries, touch to various cultures and meet different tastes thanks to her travel-lover family. After getting her law degree at university, she thereupon was headed to San Francisco. Cristina had the chance to experience different cultures and flavors during her visit to America and she put a stake in the ground by applying to Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts for her career as a chef. Thereupon her education, she worked with very important chefs / mentors in many leading restaurants. She got the chance to work with Puerto Rican chef Egil Valentin for a while, who has a great influence on her career. Thanks to Valentin, she had the chance of familiarizing herself with modern cooking techniques but she also discovered importance of respecting tradition and locality.
 

After 14 years in America, she returned to Italy in 2004 and began working in Convivio Troiani in Rome. She gained chef title during this experience and also took responsibility of a second restaurant (Cuoco a Domicilio). 2005 was the year when she took the helm of kitchen of Glass Hostaria. This power was followed by popular recognition and numerous awards both in Italy and worldwide. 
 

In 2018, she was awarded the prize “Two Forks” by The Gambero Rosso Guide, a cult publication for food and wine in Italy. In 2010, she was awarded with a Michelin star. Cristina was the only female star winner chef that year. Moreover, she shines out as the one and only Michelin star chef in Rome. Awarded many prizes during her career, Cristina won new prizes from two different organizations in October: “Best Female Italian Chef in Europe” of The Love Italian Life 2018 awards sponsored by Luxury Food&Lifestyle Worldwide, and “Female Chef of the Year” and “Development and Culture of Made in Italy – Italian Association of Ambassadors of Taste” prizes by FoodCommunity.
 

In 2012, she opened the first of Romeo Chef and Baker. This stunning place was an old Alfa-Romeo factory and renovated with a radical perspective, and it started to serve as a bar, restaurant, bakery and delicatessen. In 2014, Cristina published her first book named “From Cerignola to San Francisco and Back – My Life as a Chef Swimming Against the Tide”. Bowerman's achievements and Glass Hostaria have become a case study in Bocconi University. Cristina has also given culinary lectures for years.
